A good relationship with the in-laws is one of the single hugest gifts a person can have. You just don't understand, when you're young and naive, that you are literally marrying the family!
I don't think you realize how important your relationship with the in-laws is until long after you're married and you realize you've ended up with very good in-laws - or very bad ones! I lucked out, looks like your daughter-in-law did, too.
