The anniversary has never gone unmarked.
Nor have our lives.

 Please use your seat belts.

O Mike - and Ronnie - and other Petersons who visit the blog, who also bear this loss. It's my turn to not know just what to say. You've written about his death before, but this just made him real and alive for me. This is beautiful.

Thanks so much for this gift, Mike. There are photos I don't remember ever seeing before and they're beautiful! Nick would have been 57 today. I'm picturing Tony and Nick hanging out together with some of their favorite baseball players and some pretty cool musicians.

Aw, Mike. :( Gosh. That was beautiful. The pictures, the *song*... I wish I'd known him. Of course, I did meet him, but don't remember. I can't imagine how much you must miss him.

Your niece, Kim

So you've brought Tony to the family reunion - in a way only this particular big brother could. Perfect.

Love,
Frances

Thank you, Mike. Lois's comment is so much like what I was thinking of today - him and Nick sharing this weekend. And Frances's joining him to the family reunion - And Kim, I wish he'd had the picture of Tony in his hat holding baby you on a porch in Wells, Maine, 41 years ago right about now --

Well, you're a bunch of sentimental thoughtful darlings and I am so grateful for the love among us

And, Ruth, bless you --- I know you get it ---

Oh, that makes me sad for all of you, for everyone who endures that kind of loss, for the world because I always thought Tony made it better by his being part of it. Mike, it's a really lovely tribute.

So you know, as my son and his friends came to the driving age, Tony was always my cautionary tale. I told his story often because I wanted those kids to know that real people really do die from not wearing a seat belt.

Thanks for sharing your family pictures.

I cannot hear the music with the spotty internet connection in this little library, but this is moving to the core nonetheless. There is a young man (who was only 58 days old when Tony died) to whom I will recommend this when I return.

In addition to seatbelts, wearing sunscreen is never a bad idea, either.
