I'm Mike Peterson, and I approved this video

It's getting hard to defend "the mainstream media" against the Mensa types who feel so much smarter than anyone else, when "the mainstream media" insists on putting unqualified, self-promoting blowhards on the air who have much the same undocumented, unsubstantiated, ridiculously over-inflated self-image. Yes, you're right -- you could have offered just as cogent an analysis. Which doesn't justify having either of you on the air.

Jon Stewart offers a genius take on the issue.

You know what the really sad thing is? The sad thing is that the Comedy Network has the most influential news show in America.

Also the smartest, but that's not hard.

So, recently-liberated newshound, will Maine go for Obama next week?

Maine splits its four electoral votes. The southern half of the state is almost certain to go for Obama. The top is probably in play and could go McCain. But at best it's a wash, and Kerry took all four in the last election. I don't think McCain will get much benefit from Maine, though both Palins visited recently. (That is, Sarah and Todd. Not Sarah and Michael.)

Too bad, that last bit. Michael probably would have raised the level of discourse somewhat. Did Todd urge the northern half of the state to secede from the southern half?
