1000 Spring Peepers and 1 ad libber
(Apologizing in advance for the quality of the video, which was unplanned.)
It is spring in Western Maine. I was out walking the dogs and the spring peepers were making such a racket that I thought I'd see if my little point-and-shoot would record it.
However, there wasn't much action, and Ziwa, who thinks all nature documentaries should be like "Big Cat Diary," decided to improve the film.
What a ham! "Dude's got a camera! Check me out, man! Seriously! Watch this!"
ReplyDeleteNext thing you know she'll have an agent, and it's all downhill from there.
I love it when their feet flash out sideways when running with joy -- Kelsey and Oolie both do it, and we call it "happy feet."
ReplyDeleteIs Destry always such a party pooper?
Ask me "was" Destry always such a party pooper.
ReplyDeleteNo, and, a few minutes after this scene, she had jollyed him into a race down the path.
But his days of playing crash-and-dash are pretty much behind him now, and when she gets into "I'll be the brave ridgeback and you be the horrible lion" mode, he mostly tries to reduce the impact on his poor old bones.
She certainly added another layer of joy to the symphony! The peeper noise was spectacular -- either there's no traffic noise or they drowned it out. Either way, what a delight!
ReplyDeleteJax and Emma play a variant on the ridgebacks' game. It's called, "I'll be the brave spaniel and you be the mild inconvenience," which is about as close to "horrible" as they ever experience.
ReplyDeleteKelsey, on the other hand, plays "I am the brave Kelsey and I must guard you against these horrible moving air molecules."
